A structured, non-divinatory approach to Tarot and I Ching as mirrors of the subconscious — rooted in Jungian depth psychology.
What if a deck of cards — or a set of ancient symbols — could help you reflect on your story, deepen self-awareness, and illuminate the patterns shaping your life?
In my work, Tarot and I Ching are not tools for prediction. They are reflective systems that tap into the subconscious and the collective unconscious, helping us explore archetypes, synchronicities, and symbolic turning points.
This offering draws from the teachings of Carl Jung, who viewed symbolic systems like Tarot and the I Ching as doorways to inner knowing — not as oracles, but as mirrors.
Depending on your interest, we may:
Reflect on a Tarot spread you’ve drawn on your own
Use the cards as a springboard for therapeutic dialogue
Consult the I Ching (Book of Changes) for guidance during times of transition or inner work
Explore the archetypal structure of these systems to deepen symbolic literacy and intuitive capacity
Whether Tarot or I Ching calls to you more, the aim is the same: to engage the symbolic mind and bring unconscious material into conscious awareness.
3. My Approach
This work is spacious, soulful, and grounded in psychological respect. I don’t interpret for you — I hold space with you.
Together, we look at the symbols that arise as invitations, not instructions. We explore the emotional, imaginal, and archetypal layers of what’s emerging. You are always the final authority on what resonates, what illuminates, and what moves you forward.
Symbolic work can be deeply clarifying, especially in moments of ambiguity, initiation, or personal myth-making. And sometimes, the right image at the right time can shift everything.
4. Who It Helps
This approach may be right for you if:
You’re curious about depth psychology, archetypes, and symbolism
You want to explore your subconscious in creative, non-linear ways
You feel stuck or in transition and long for deeper inner guidance
You’ve drawn Tarot cards or cast the I Ching and want support interpreting them
You’re ready to explore your inner world beyond logic and diagnosis
5. What to Expect / Session Structure
A reflective, non-dogmatic process focused on inner clarity
Orientation to the structure of the Tarot deck (Major/Minor Arcana, suits, court cards, narrative flow)
Option to consult the I Ching and explore the hexagram’s meaning as a symbolic message
Gentle engagement with archetypes, metaphor, intuition, and personal myth
Optional use of ritual, journaling, or visualization to deepen integration
6. Medical Record / Documentation
This is a non-medical offering, part of the Inner Wisdom & Transformation path. It is not documented in your medical record.
My Training & Influences
I’ve studied with teachers in the Jungian, mythic, and symbolic traditions of Tarot, including:
Kenneth James, PhD — Jungian analyst and founder of The Soulwork Center
Juliet Sharman-Burke — Author of The Mythic Tarot, therapist, and astrologer
T. Susan Chang — Author of Tarot Correspondences and 36 Secrets, expert in symbolic patterning and intuitive structure
I also work with the I Ching as a companion tool for self-reflection and transformation, integrating it into both personal practice and therapeutic dialogue.
I offer a course titled “The Art of Tarot: Symbol, Soul & Synchronicity” through Central Oregon Community College — a psychologically informed class to support intuitive development and symbolic thinking.
Quote (Jungian View on Symbolic Systems)
“The tarot images are psychologically alive. They are a pictorial representation of the archetypes of transformation.”
— Inspired by Jung’s writings on archetypes and symbols
